so earlier I was looking through the AP tag and feeling nostalgic, then spotted some old fanart I had done

I felt...

It’s traumatizing to know when that happens.
A great hand tutorial by Qinni on deviantART!
Me, Myself, and Knowledge
What should I be like?
This question that has been posed has resulted in an deep, thoughtful analysis into my daily behavior. I find myself to be a level-headed person, with very little instances of my getting upset. But why? With all that is going on…
All my headdesks. Ugh.

If any of you happen to know someone who knows their way around Sony Vegas 9 or later pretty damn well (has to be Sony Vegas), please shoot me a message on tumblr or youtube. I might need a partner to help me with future comic dubs. Knowing how to do basic things in Photoshop would also be a bonus.
Reblogging because you’re awesome. Keep up the good work!
Also, while I don’t know Vegas (I do know Adobe Premiere and how editing works), I am pretty gosh darn handy with Photoshop, if that helps at all.

A big ol’ tip on drawing cities from street-level. The drawings are pretty crude, (I did them very fast,) but I think they get the point across :) I’m sure some streets like in the first example actually exist in the world, but why would you choose to draw something so boringly bland?
Hope it helps you out!
weh I have so much to learn on in the “drawing cities” front. I always try to push myself to do better, but I can never quite stage my sidewalks right. I blame it on growing up in a town with no sidewalks or buildings higher than two stories.
Tutorial: Hands while kissing - by Auroracarina-Chan on DeviantArt
Since the tutorial is marked as “mature”, you cannot use the share-function to post it all on tumblr (srsly, I understand why ppl don’t wanna mark their work as mature… it limit your work to be seen a bit too much in some cases).
The reason why this tutorial is marked as mature is… I THINK it’s because you see some nipples, but it’s a ridiculous reason to make it unable to post on tumblr (dA has a share function where you can post art from dA with proper source and everything.)
Anyway, I took some screenshots from the tutorial, so you guys can see it without having to be a member on dA.
And here’s a screenshot that couldn’t get into the photoset:

…to write an entire essay on why Mawaru Penguindrum is similar to Revolutionary Girl Utena. Including all the symbolism, similar characters, similar episode structures, etc. Oh god would it be a big huge black hole of spoilers.
DO IT
I’ll edit for you~
I find that, when writing bios, it’s really helpful to look at a list or a chart like the one above. Picking two or three traits from each chart and building a character based around them will give you a really interesting bio, because they will serve as a reminder that characters need depth and dimension.
Independent and clever.
VS.
Independent, clever, pretentious, and stubborn.
The first combination doesn’t come with any flaws, whereas the second will provide a more dynamic character.
This helps so much. Always make a flawed character, that makes them more human.

Hmm, now I need to draw that (or find someone else to draw it instead). It would be super cool and everything!
“And it was still hot.”
Possibly the most perfect line in all of children’s literature?
I’m deeply saddened by the passing of Maurice Sendak. It feels like such a loss. His books were such an integral part of my childhood, of developing my love of reading. As an adult, I was honored to be his publicist at Harper.
I keep thinking of this interview he gave on “Fresh Air” last year, with his thoughts on dying: “I have nothing now but praise for my life. I’m not unhappy. I cry a lot because I miss people. They die and I can’t stop them. They leave me and I love them more. … What I dread is the isolation. … There are so many beautiful things in the world which I will have to leave when I die, but I’m ready, I’m ready, I’m ready.”
Thank you for all the adventures, Mr. Sendak. We love you more.
Mr. Sendak was a fantastic illustrator, author, and a big part of my childhood. Thanks again for all the good times, Mr Sendak.
